It really is a sad day today. John Hughes, an icon to my generation, died suddenly today of a heart attack. Having grown up on movies like Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and the Breakfast Club, I have to say that this is one filmmaker that has had a profound impact on my life and the lives of many of my friends. His brilliance, humor, wicked stories, and ability to see into the heart, soul, and mind of all teenagers everywhere will be sorely missed and poorly duplicated.
I'm sure that the flags at Shermer High School will fly at half mast for some time to come.
I'm sure that John and Paul Gleason are somewhere in the basement files, drinking a beer and laughing about us "kids."
