Twas Only a Matter of Time...

before the criminals who continue to be elected to Mayoral office in Detroit were sent to the slammer!

See, my lovely hometown has a tendency to elect those with, well, how shall I put it, questionable intentions. These are gentlemen who somehow end up being re-elected over periods of 5, 10, or even 32 YEARS even as the city drops lower and lower into the dregs. They have a habit of engaging in suspicious activity of questionably legality. And, on occasion, sidestep massive political drama by sucking up to those of slightly higher status but surprisingly lower moral character.

But, today, the impossible was made possible. Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick enters a plea of guilty to several felony charges stemming from a juicy sex scandal. As of today, he resigns from office and agrees to pay a fine of $1 million dollars (only a fraction of the amount that he has embezzled from Detroit in the last several years).

Now, the waiting game begins...who will replace dear Kwame? A man of higher status, or one of lower moral character? Let's pray, for the sake of Motown, that it is not a man of both.
