Very sad news has hit the Art Community in Philadelphia. Anne d'Harnoncourt, the director of the PMA and a great modern Art historian has passed away. This woman has been an amazing proponent of the arts in Philly and has done some amazing things at the museum. She was an incredible speaker, an animated individual, and her passing is a great loss to the art community.
I just recently started "working" at the museum. I'm going to be giving a few Spotlight Tours in the Fall and Winter months as the grad student rep from Temple. I was looking forward to being able to meet and talk with her while there, as I have read many of her articles and books and consider her an important scholar in the field of early 20th century American Art.
